The Steward (USA) overshot the start.
Having been examined by the Veterinary Surgeon at the start, the gelding was deemed fit to race.
An enquiry was held into the running and riding of Zamarkhan (FR), placed second, ridden by Ryan Mania, Romeo Brown (GB), placed third, ridden by Ross Chapman, Swaffham Bulbeck (IRE), placed fourth, ridden by Oakley Brown, Book Of Invasions (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Stephen Mulqueen, Hunting Percival (GB), unplaced, ridden by Jonathan Burke, Spin The Coin (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Theo Gillard, Tabou Beach Boy (GB), unplaced, ridden by Sean Quinlan, Titus Bolt (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Conor O’Farrell, Set In Stone (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Nathan Moscrop, and The Herds Garden (GB), unplaced, ridden by Brian Hughes.
The riders stated they were mindful that the winner, The Steward, had been keen to post and overshot the start, before running very keenly in the race and bolting with the rider to hold a considerable early lead.
They further added that they all asked their mounts for an effort approximately 5 furlongs out but could make very little inroads to the clear running winner.
Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race, The Stewards were satisfied that all mounts were asked for sufficient effort and had obtained the best possible placings, with the winning distance of 13 lengths.
The performance of Set In Stone (IRE), which finished unplaced, was considered.
Rebecca Menzies explained that the mare ran flat on this occasion having won only 13 days previously.
Her explanation was noted and the mare was routine tested.
