Roscommon 1-2 for '3-on-the-trot' trainer Kelly
it's a nice surprise and we're delighted to get the one-two. Katie gave him a great ride and it's great for the owner.
Blackmore & O'Shea combine for Amschel win
I thought he was beaten jumping the second last after making that mistake but he's a horse that finds loads off the bridle., . We were a bit nervous when we went out and saw that he had drifted in price because I thought he'd be favourite. He's a horse with a big future and for a four-year-old to beat those kind of horses over that trip, I think he's a horse with a bright future. He'll go on to Galway now and as I've said before he's capable of winning one of those staying flat maidens. He'd have to give a bit of weight in the two-and-a-half mile novice at Galway and he's not eligible for the first one. I think there is a Listed two-mile and we wouldn't mind dropping back to two mile if they went a good gallop there or we could even go for one of the staying flat maidens. He has a good future wherever he goes.
Life's a beach for Glenbeigh based O'Connor
it's my first winner and I'm delighted to get it!. He was third in Wexford on Friday night and I just entered him here in case there was a mishap or if he was placed and showed form. He was in very good form yesterday so we were confident enough coming today that he'd give a good account of himself. I just can't believe it and it's hard to describe what it feels like and I've so many people to thank. My partner Natasha is not here today as she's at home minding our small lady and doing the rest of the yard. I only got my license this time last year and have had about seven runners. I train on the beach down in Glenbeigh beside Killarney and it's great to get it as they're not easy to get and we'll enjoy today!. My uncle Philip (O'Connor, Like A Diamond's owner) trains as well and he had a winner at Listowel last September with Masons Daughter. He actually leased her out to the Blue Blood Syndicate and she's with Willie Mullins now - hopefully he might give me a few more to train now!. I just have three horses for the track - I've another horse Bere Haven who is entered in a handicap hurdle at Sligo on Sunday and I think he should produce a good run as well.
Spring Watch completes summer double
he just missed out the last two and drifted over a bit on the run-in but he won well enough at the end. He's not the most straight-forward to train. They've done a great job with the ground here but it's probably quick enough for him.
Pioneering Blackmore completes Roscommon double
I'm delighted for Ger O'Leary (owner) as he has been a friend of mine since we were kids and we've always been around horses together. Since I've started training he's always been tipping away riding and schooling and has always been inside the yard. He puts an awful lot of work into the horse. He had a great run for us the first day but then ran in-and-out but was just very green. Rachael got back on him today and he wanted the trip and she gave him a cracking ride and we're very lucky to have her. He's definitely a horse we like and he'll tip away in hurdles but his future is over fences. It makes the long journey up a bit shorter!
Mullins and Townend combine for bumper win!
'High-five' for women jockeys at Roscommon
he's a grand horse and likes the ground and jumps very well. He likes nice ground and travels like a nice horse. He's a horse we might bring to Perth for a bumper because Ronnie (Bartlett) is obviously in Scotland, so we'll see what happens.
