Los Andes takes opener for Harrington and Foley
You'd have to be very happy with him. He did all his work very nicely at home but was a little bit disappointing the first day. He leaned a bit with Shane that day out of greenness. It was maybe partly my fault as well as all our horses run with Australian nosebands on them and he had some grass warts. They pushed on the noseband and he was running away from that. We took it off today and it worked the trick. He's a nice horse and has a few nice entries. He's growing a bit at the moment and you can see when the saddle is off him that he's a bit up behind. We'll give him a bit of time now and maybe mid-August we'll look for another race for him. A mile suits him well and it's nice to get a winner for (Breeders’ Cup Mile winner) Karakontie.
Lady Scathach bounds clear off a lightweight
She was very unlucky on Sunday. We probably would have went to Leopardstown (on Saturday) if she had gotten in but she did that very well there. She was a stone lighter than anything else in it and she has a nice turn of foot when things go right for her off a nice pace. She quickened up very well in Cork the other day but she just didn't get the gaps and only got going very late. I'd say she would have hacked up with a clear run. It would be nice if she was in somewhere else in a day or two but unfortunately she's not. She could be a nice one for Galway if she goes up enough to get in as she's coming into real good form at the minute.
Laurel Wreath takes the honours for Cleary
She ran very well in Sligo and was very unlucky as she got badly bumped and was shoved out four wide. The track probably didn't suit her in Sligo but there weren't many six furlong races coming up for fillies so we took a chance. I think the draw beat us there, if we had been drawn three of four we probably would have gone close to winning. We knew Navan would suit her better, as it's dead straight. Maybe we'll try and get a little bit of black-type now. I stuck her in the Ballyogan Stakes yesterday and that's where she'll head now with a bit of luck. She's definitely improving, she stays six and is fast enough for five.
Foley setting a strong pace in jockeys' title race
He finally got his head in front. He's a horse that always promised a lot and had a few very good runs last year. He just got sick on us last year and took ages to come back. His run in Fairyhouse, the first day, was too bad to be true. He had a good run the last day and got his head in front there today. He's in the sales next month but we'll have a chat with Patrick Cooper and see what he wants to do. Shane seems to think the blinkers helped him there.
Sheridan times it nicely on Not Now Zeb
Third win at Navan for Tide Of Time
Pretty Smart wins finale for Martin and Hoban
She's not normally one I'd like to take out quick, and Sligo was only a week ago, but we haven't ridden her out and she's just swam. She's been eating good and we felt she was well. Conor liked the look of this race from the entry stage. The ease in the ground helps her and I think we'll probably stick to sprinting with her. We've been trying to get her to relax and go six but she over-raced at Sligo and it was the wrong track with hindsight. That was kind of what we hoped she could do. She battled very well as I thought the runner-up was going better than us at the furlong marker but she kept at it well. She's always showed us a bit. She's a half-sister to Aspen Belle (six-time winner) and if she can do as well as her we'd be delighted but she has a long way to go to catch up with her.
