Vert gets up to justify favouritism
Coming here I thought he would win easier. Gary felt that there is more improvement in him. It's so long since he has run.
Winkle's brother gets off the mark
It's great that he has won and hopefully he will come forward from it. He won nicely. He quickened up well but he probably got a bit tired on the ground as he hasn't run for a while.
Star back to best
He has been a bit tricky in the stalls recently. Denis said he had to be held up. He has been a little disappointing but everything worked today.
Flier makes it three for the year
I've been threatening to put the blinds on her for a while. She's honest enough but does a lot of looking around,. I thought a couple of times over seven at Fairyhouse she had them well stuffed but she tied up a bit. I thought the stiff six here would suit but didn't expect her to do it like that. We could look at one of the better sprints towards the end of the year.
Corby and Martin double up with Rock
That's great and I'm delighted for Donal (owner Donal Houlihan). He was very unlucky at Galway. It was my fault putting a visor on him there and he was just a bit free. I thought it would help but it didn't. Luckily he got ample compensation tonight.
Oxx and Carberry team up with Cailini
She smarted up a bit from Galway. It is always hard to win first time at Galway. She learned a bit, she was much more professional today and she won nicely. We will see what we get from the handicapper and go from there. She is a big strong mare and she is half-sister to Dark Crusader. She might make a nice four-year-old she should improve as she gets older. She likes a little dig and she wouldn't run on good to firm ground. She stays well. Nina has never had a ride for me before. I've always used the Walsh's (Ted rode plenty of winners for John Oxx senior) when I haven't had an amateur, and now I've used the daughter-in-law as well!
