Former pointer Kilford opens a/c under rules
In fairness to him he was a hurt horse but had won three point to points and wasn't too bad then. This staying type of track suited him and he stayed galloping today. He didn't the last day but it might have been the soft ground then. He's getting older now so we'll keep him going.
Punters make their Point with Westerner
He came back to his Thurles bumper run and had his ideal conditions over two miles, on soft ground and in that grade. We decided to make plenty use of him today and we'll see what mark he gets now before making a plan. He needs soft ground so will be left off later in the season.
Curragh strikes Gold on handicap debut
She had been consistent but tricky and in a few ways was tailor made for handicaps. Brian Hayes (rider of the runner-up today) rode her recently and said that handicaps would suit her better because she'd settle better than she had been in maidens.
Landmark winner for O'Keeffe with Grey Guy
I've had three point-to-point winners this year but this is my first racecourse winner. I took out my license a year ago, have six horses and hopefully will get a couple more now!. It's amazing to win and he jumps and stays and is very genuine. He'll stay hurdling this year and if he is good, and in one piece, will go chasing next season.
Sad sequel to Leighinmohr victory
National next for consistent Brook
Codd on the mark again in bumper
I absolutely have no idea when was the last time I had a bumper winner. It could be 20 years and it'd take someone with time to waste to find out! This fellow must be an exceptional horse!. He hasn't shown us a lot at home and was mentally backward so we skipped point-to-points as I thought he wouldn't hack it or be able for them. I won't go hurdling until next season but doubt he'll be up to a winners' bumper. I'm just delighted to have him and delighted to have a winner for his owners.
