Learn going the right way
Last to first for Kate Greenaway
I got her off the horse box and thought she was in season so thought I should tell the stewards. I didn't know what way she would go. Some improve and some go the other way but it didn't seem to affect her. That's my second winner. I had a National Hunt winner a couple of weeks ago. I've had a permit for six or seven years but only took out the full license last year. I have flat horses for the first time this year. She is a nice filly and has been running consistently well. The owner, Lucy Norton, is my partner.
Words Of Wisdom toughs it out
It's nice to get it. He's a funny old horse as you do nothing with him at home as he is very weak. Johnny said he looked around him when he hit the front but he did it well. This has been a lucky track for us this year.
Singe The Turf scorches home
I'm very happy with him. He had a few little problems; just enough to keep him off the track. He was ready to run at the backend of last year but had problems with mucus and the same problem again in Spring. He had a couple of little muscle problems but they are well behind him now. He's a slightly late developer. He's a full brother to Soldier Of Fortune [Irish Derby winner 2007] and to Heliostatic. There is one left, a full sister who is a two-year-old.
Smullen shines on Sense Of Purpose
We've won this race five times in the last 10 years. Vinnie Roe used to specialise in it. It was a wonderful ride by Pat but the real star of the show is the filly. She is small, barely 15.3 hands but is all heart and courage. It is a joy to train a filly like her.She doesn't know how to quit. We had been thinking about the Ebor but I doubt she will go there. I'm looking at the Park Hill at Doncaster. One mile six furlongs is really her trip. We could have a think about the Irish St Leger but she is more likely to go to the Park Hill. The plan is to keep her in training next year. She enjoys her racing.
Dimona relishes two mile trip
She stayed well. There was a bit of a question mark whether a three-year-old would get the two miles well. She showed a little turn of foot at the end and did it well. We might stick to distances over a mile and a half. Those races are few and far between and hard to find. There is one at Killarney, the Kingdom Gold Cup over one mile six furlongs. She's versatile and will handle softish ground as well.
