Learn going the right way

Learn routed his 12 rivals in Leopardstown’s opening seven furlong two-year-old maiden to score by five lengths in a pillar-to-post victory under Colm O’Donoghue.

The Galileo colt, trained by Aidan O’Brien, made full use of being drawn in gate one to spring out on the rail and dominate the field without ever being headed at odds of 2/5 (backed in from 1/2).

In terms of racecourse experience Learn had the most in this field with two placed finishes at the Curragh and Galway.

The remainder were involved in their own race for second place which was won by Ger Lyons’ previously unraced Strada Colorato (33/1 from 50/1) who stayed on well to beat Requisition from the O’Brien yard (14/1) into third by a length a half.

Learn is entered in all the Group races for juveniles at the backend of the season. Jockey Colm O’Donoghue said: “He’s a good straightforward horse and a good mover.

“He is one to look forward to next year. The ground was perfect there.”

Daddy Longlegs, also trained by Aidan O’Brien who was triple-handed in the race, was withdrawn not under orders for refusing to enter the stalls. There was a Rule 4 of 5 cent in the euro to all bets.
