Easy for Automatic in Limerick opener
He is big and can be awkward but was entitled to do that on some of his form. It took us a while to get a handle on him as we were holding him up and not letting him stride on but today he was idle in front and needed company. He jumps hurdles well enough but when he meets them wrong he is awkward. He is a really good work horse at home and I thought he was the real deal but he is a huge big horse and I'll go over fences with him now. He actually wants good ground.
King brothers combine for Some shock
We were very disappointed after Tipperary but maybe that was a lack of him running in schooling races and he had a bit of stage-fright. We thought he'd win a 5yo maiden point-to-point so we were very disappointed after Tipperary. I did plenty of schooling with him since and we decided to give him a spin over hurdles. He jumped and travelled everywhere and was the best horse in the race. He is for sale, is a lovely horse and goes on any ground. He has schooled over fences and was ready to run in point-to-point's before they stopped and that's why he ended up here.
Mystery makes the breakthrough over flights
She was due that. She's a smart filly. She has been unlucky and probably should have achieved more than she has achieved. There's something special about her. Everything about her is quality. We have her schooled over fences and she's a cracking filly to jump. I'm very fond of her. I have a full-brother and a half-sister to her at home, so I have three of the family.
Spike in number of big-priced winners continues
she won a good four year old hurdle at Punchestown last January but was running against older horses afterwards. You'd be disappointed with her run the last day as I thought she'd win. I'll bring her on slowly as she is only four and I'll have a chat with Colman (Sweeney, son) and see where we go next.
McNamara has first winner since son's heroics
he had two runs in Thurles that he'd be entitled to win that race but he has been a little in and out and twice he disappointed us. He stays every yard of three miles though and the ease in the ground was a help to him. He is a good tough horse and will make a nice chaser in time.
Double for Danny as Gunfire wins by 46 lengths
My mother thought he came out of Tipperary well and decided to take the gamble and come here. If he comes out of this well, he might go to Cork tomorrow. He won easily there but it will still take a bit out of him, although my mother is a fair judge of that and I'll leave it up to her. It is the first winner I've ridden for my brother Anthony so it's a great family affair.
