Easy Voyage around Cork for Russell

Cork double for McManus and Walsh
Dream result for Sweeney at home track with a 1-2
It was hard to get into races for these two horses and both would like nice ground. I was expecting Lagenod, which is Donegal spelled backwards - as he is owned by a Donegal man, Pat McGowan - to win. Both horses will go for similar handicaps next and that's my first ever 1-2.
McCutcheon trains first jumps winner
He had his issues but there are a lot of people who love this horse. He'll be a great fun horse and it's great to have Charlotte (Younghusband), George (Pappadakis) and James (Noble) as new owners in the yard and hopefully he will be able to give them more fun,. I have nine riding out at the moment, they are a complete mixed bunch and that's my first jumps winner - I trained Maarek when he won a Group 2 at York in 2014.
Gold Cup hero Townend back on home ground with a winner
Paul said he improved again there and he obviously has. He probably got to the front a little bit soon there but that's three wins out of four runs,. He is versatile enough ground-wise and we could go to Aintree for a three mile handicap hurdle there so we'll have a look at that. He seems to be improving the whole time.
On to Punchestown now for Sweeney with Cork winner Roseys
She is a grand big mare and we are delighted with that,. The thought coming here was to follow a former horse of mine Minutestomidnight and go to the Punchestown festival for the Graded Mares Bumper but she had to come and do this. She was never away in a schooling race and we were ready to run in a point to point last year but she was short a couple of schools and she was left off. When she came back in I thought she'd be ready to run at Christmas but she was just growing and I took my time with her and fair play to the lads for waiting. I have 12 horses at the moment and I am trying to expand the whole time. I'd love to keep her but money talks.
