Asserted does just that at the business end
Foley makes most of his opportunity in Kilbeggan
He deserved it. He’d a couple of good runs under his belt. He’s consistent and honest and probably has a high enough rating to win a summer maiden hurdle. He’s a straightforward horse and Jack gave him a lovely ride.
Ruaille Buaille another impressive winner for team Mullins
Her rating probably entitled her to win. We thought she was a bit unlucky in a good handicap in Fairyhouse and then disappointed on slower ground at Punchestown. The return to good ground really saw her at her best today. She should be competitive in all those mares’ hurdles and I’m sure we’ll try and find something for her in Galway. She’s not very big so I’m not sure she would jump a fence and maybe she could go back for a Flat maiden. She’s not slow.
Mullins lands brace courtesy of Presenting Bonnie
She’s a good mare and Danny gave her a great ride. She won her maiden here the last day. The handicapper put her up 5lb and I thought she was reasonably well handicapped. She loved that better ground and is going to be a very good mare over fences. She’s by Presenting and all that family love to rattle off the ground.
In-form Chelseas Friend delivers again
She is the old pedigree of Buck House and Doorknocker who won the Champion Hurdle. There is not much of that pedigree left. She won on soft ground in Ballinrobe and good ground today. She had problems as a four and five-year-old and lucky enough a vet in Kildorrery, Conor O’Brien, solved them and she’s won three since.
Kenny shines again on Ya Boy Ya
Fill The Tank fills his boots
He won his point-to-point and didn’t progress from it at the time so he’s well overdue his win. I only have a few as a permit holder but all the horses in the yard seem to be coming right at the moment. He’s a big horse and we thought soft ground would suit him but he travels away on that. He was second to John Ryan’s mare (Fairyhill Run) at Limerick and was better off by 10lb at the weights today.
Minella Cocooner makes it an across-the-card quad for Mullins
He’s an excellent pedigree by Flemensfirth and out of Askanna who was a good mare for Colin Bowe. I thought it would be easier to do 12st2lb here than 11st2lb down there (Saldier also won well in Listowel). He’s not particularly a summer horse and I think he’ll be very competitive in the winter. He’ll jump hurdles and fences — I don’t know whether I’ll manage to get a winners’ bumper out of him but I’ll ask Willie. He’s above average and it’s good for the owners who had Minella Encore and Mr Adjudicator but have had some bad luck lately.
