3 from 4 for Sam Bass
That's great . he stays very well. We'll go on to Christmas with him now (Leopardstown on St Stephen's Day). We were always a bit worried about the ground with him but he worked great on it the other day so we were happy enough. We thought he'd improved a bit since his last run.
Sous wins outstanding Royal Bond
He exceeded what I thought he'd do and he had to do it the hard way as he took it up a good bit out. He enjoyed his jumping and I'm happy that he'll improve from that. He's very light-mouthed but other than that he's uncomplicated. We'll look forward to his next run now and we'll see how he comes out of this. He could go for the two miler at Christmas or we could wait for the Deloitte & Touche. I'd imagine he'll stay further but at the moment we're happy over two miles. The ground was pretty tacky today but he handled it and I think he'll go on good ground as well.
Bog Warrior has arrived
He has always shown us from the first day that he's a good horse. We always knew he could be something special if we kept him right. He just had a little setback early on. I couldn't be more happy with him . he is definitely a Grade 1 horse . he's a proper horse. Every day he runs he gets better.
Voler gets her Grade 1
Cloughmile a mare on the up
She was out all last year. She got a fall in a hurdle in Listowel and broke a little bone in her knee. When the horses are down they are down but it took us too long to find out what was wrong. At least they are running well now. I thought I was losing it for a while but I kept saying that they'd come back and they did.
Smoking Aces has his big day
I'm delighted he won. He has broken our hearts but he won well today in fairness. He got out of bed on the right side today. Mark was good on him . he took his time and he was either going to get there in his hands or not. I told him to hunt around and see how he was going after three miles.
Much to look forward to with Venture Capital
That was nice. He's looked like a nice horse from a while back. We didn't want it turning into a sprint with so many newcomers in it so Richie dictated it from over a mile out. That was just the way the race panned out. Better ground should suit and he stays and he jumps well. He has a hunter cert and was on the verge of going point-to-pointing. He came here because the evidence at home suggested he was quite good. He is only four so it's a bit early to be going jumping.
