Shackleton tough off the front in Curragh
In Curragh Aftermath, O'Brien and Moore at the double
We're delighted with him. He had a lovely run first time in Newbury, he was very green and got left by himself. He ran a lovely race in Doncaster, he's a lovely horse. A big horse to look forward to for next year. That was only seven (furlongs) and he'll have no problem getting a mile or a mile-and-a-quarter even next year. He's a fine, big horse.
Heavens Gate seals treble for Moore and O'Brien
Ryan thinks that she'll get a mile, riding her patiently. He said she quickened well and waited when she got there. He was very happy with her. She deserved that, she's after having two very big runs.
My Mate Alfie earns a shot at 'touring' next year
He's straightforward and I'm happy to have him. He's just improved all season. We said we'd teach him how to sprint all year, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. He just after rocking up and improving all year. I think he's won what he has deserved, a Group 3. He couldn't get near Givemethebeatboys early in the year but, the way he has improved now, if they had to meet in a match he'd have to give him six or seven pounds. It's a credit to the horse. We know he'll get seven - I promised the owner that if he let me do it my way this year that we'd go touring next year, so I'll have to come up with a plan to get out of that one!. He makes you look good, he's so straightforward. You'd think these sprinters are high octane and hard to deal with, but he's so laidback and I think that's the secret to his success. He's handled any ground as well.
O'Brien figures out Montpellier Green
It was a nice run. It took us a bit of time to get him figured out. The bit of juice in the ground helped him today and he won nicely, he was tough. He's had the headgear on and off and we tried cheekpieces as well, but we stuck to the blinkers today and he showed a good attitude. The second horse ran well, he had run well in Galway as well. He snuck into the race well and came home nicely. Dec (McDonogh) said he was green under pressure and ran around a good bit. He's going the right way.
The Euphrates brings up a lucrative four-timer for O'Brien and Moore
He was very well handicapped, he ended up on a good mark. His Leger run was an unbelievable run. Ryan gave him a great ride, he got a great position and was controlling it. He's an improving horse, I'd say he's a Cup horse. He stays two (miles) and he has a bit of class, he travelled very strong at all stages. They were doing 12s all the way and to do that all the way in a race like that is very difficult. It's very unusual in those distance races.
Tokenomics puts himself firmly in the shop window
He's a very good horse. He went to York and mightn't have been on the top of his game, but the ground was very firm that day and I don't know whether he wanted it that quick. I'd say it made a man of him anyway. He's improving and, with the size of him, all he's going to do is get better. My wife showed me a video of him the other day, from February of this year, and he's a completely different horse. Unfortunately, he's going to go to the sales, I'd love to keep him. He's in the October horses-in-training sale. He'll make some horse for Australia.
Belfrina back with a bang
It wasn't unexpected. You're never quite sure coming to the Curragh - it's obviously hot, but we've always liked her. We were annoyed with her break on debut. She's a lovely filly and she's got a future. On pedigree and the way she handled her debut, I'd say we might go again when it rains. She'll handle softer ground fine. We tried to run her a couple of times, but we just wanted a bit of ease. It's nice after a year off that we're doing something right.
