An enquiry was held to consider interference approximately 3 furlongs out involving Aconcagua Mountain (IRE), placed fourth, ridden by Archie Young and the winner, Ski Angel (GB), ridden by P.
J.
McDonald.
Being a 7lb claimer, Young was accompanied in the enquiry by a senior rider.
Young was suspended for 6 days for improper riding as he manoeuvred his mount right-handed, bumping Ski Angel (GB) and taking it off its intended line when it ought to have been obvious that interference would occur.
Annie Maher (GB), placed fifth, lost its cheekpieces during the race.
Katie Scott’s explanation that the cheekpieces, which had been used without a problem the day before, had become rain-sodden in the wet conditions causing the Velcro to become detached, was noted.
Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that Quanah (IRE), unplaced, bled from the nose and had an irregular heartbeat.
