Familiar scores on debut for Murtagh
That's a bit of pressure off as it's a new syndicate (Fitzwilliam Racing) that we put together. It's their second runner and first winner. I've always liked her and she showed a lot of pace. She has been working very well at home. I said to Niall to ride her for luck but he said she was brave, she pricked her ears a little bit when she went there but the gap opened up lovely and she's quickened well. There is a fillies race in Naas for her now. The syndicate are still dreaming of Ascot so you never know. The dream is still alive!
McGovern gets Sam up on the line
Khukri provides Harrington with Listed win
I kind of didn't expect that. He had three runs last year and we put him away after he won. He's a sprinter and I haven't really trained sprinters before. This was sort of the only place we could go so we put him in here and hoped for the best. We really didn't know what to think because he's just been working away at home and his homework probably wouldn't inspire you. It doesn't matter as he put his head in front at the right place. He had a good draw which was great.
Marina takes the Salsabil for Bolger/Manning
The trip and ground made a difference to her. She had a good run at the Curragh last year. We might as well try and go all the way with her now. I might just consider the Musidora or the Blue Wind at Naas. They are around the same time.
Torcedor lands another big pot for Harrington
Colm said he had come on from Leopardstown,. I put my neck on the line and supplemented him for this. I thought if we could get third it would be great. What I'm really pleased about is that the ground is very different from Leopardstown and I wasn't sure if it was just the slow ground there that helped him. He seemed to travel on that ground perfectly and seemed to love it. He's grown in confidence. He won well at Leopardstown but this was a big step up in class and he had to improve. I know it was his second run of the year and Order Of St George's first, so he's going to come forward from there, but I loved the way he stayed every yard of it. They went a good gallop and started taking him on from the far side. He stayed at it all the way to the line. I'll have a conference with the owners and see where we go but I'd say we'll probably like to go to Ascot with him. If he goes on improving it will be brilliant. He's a very relaxed horse. I don't think he'll be going jumping for a while! That's why he was sent to me but I think that's gone out the window.
Wingingit gets a deserved win to her name
I'm delighted because Connacht captain John Muldoon owns a little piece of her, and he is on a stag weekend. He was telling me that his wife to be went to a fortune teller and she told her that the horse would win next time out!. She's been learning how to race. It was the same today because she got a little bit buzzy at home and I didn't do an awful lot of fast work as I was trying to calm her down a bit. Shane said it took her a while to get into gear. We're thrilled she won and hopefully she'll go and win again somewhere. I think the fast the ground the better she'll be and she looked like she'd stay further there. I'd say Galway is quite a possibility. Obviously John is from the west and so is his father.
Bolger & Manning double-up with Pirolo
I thought he ran well in bad ground in Mallow and felt the run would bring him on a bit. The better ground also made a difference. He'll make someone a nice hurdler. He's uncomplicated and you can go anywhere in a race with him which always helps. He has also run well at Dundalk in the past so that's a possibility for him.
