Shanrod takes opener under patient Power
That was a pleasant surprise. He disappointed me the last night in Dundalk but he had schooled well at home. I thought they went very fast for the ground and this fellow just could be alright. He'll go to Leopardstown at Christmas maybe for the Grade 1. He is a big scopey horse, jumped from hurdle to hurdle, and he did well to come from as far back as he did there.
The Hurl beats them off
Angel doubles Power's score
He didn't jump a hurdle at Thurles the last day and he was still there at the second last. He has been schooled intensively since and he is a chaser in the making.
Danny's best of the Wexford mares
We were worried about the ground but she is tough. She is not very big so she'll be staying over hurdles.
Beroni sluices up in Troytown
He jumped fantastic and he obviously stays that trip and plenty more. That opens up a good few more options over fences, though he'll probably get too much of a penalty for the Paddy Power. Padraig O'Rourke, husband of the winning owner, Margaret, is a director at Gowran, so we might take a look at the Thyestes. The Welsh National would be a possibility too. He has a bit to go to be a Graded horse but I think he could make it. It is grand to get the Troytown on to my C.V., it is a good race to win.
Mullins doubles-up with impressive Sports
He looks a lovely prospect. He is a little bit hyper but he is a great jumper. I've viewed him as an Arkle Chase horse and he done nothing out there to change my view. Because of all the wind, he wore ear-plugs today, to help him relax. He's unlikely to run again before the Grade 1 novice at Leopardstown on St. Stephen's Day.
