Flat's back! Bolger wins the opener
I just spoke to him (Rory Cleary) there now and he said she has the makings of a very nice filly.. She has a big future. She did it very well, she handled the ground well and did it like a pro. He thought that whichever one of them (along with third-placed stablemate Freedom Of Speech) handled the ground best, that was hard to know in advance obviously, and she just seemed to handle it a bit better than the other filly. She's something to look forward to and it's great to be back racing.
Downforce registers seventh career win
it must be tacky enough. I thought all week that it was drying out too much for the two of them the winner and 10th placed stablemate Gobi Desert) but Nathan said he loved it. He jumped out, barreled along the whole way, and enjoyed himself. We'll go back down to Cork in two weeks for the Listed race (Cork Stakes) that he has won twice. It's great to see him back. He didn't win a race last year but was third in a Listed race towards the end of last year and is a good little money earner for Donal Finnan so I'm delighted.
O'Brien off the mark with Guineas entry Arc
You'd be delighted with her. Ryan said she'd be happier on nicer ground and won't mind going up to a mile either,. We might have a look at the Guineas trial at Leopardstown for her. It's tough going out there first time. He said he was very comfortable on her.
Amazed By Grace wins Madrid Handicap
he (Sheehy) drifted over a little bit and when she (Amazed By Grace) hit the front she pricked her ears. She's a light little filly and Niall (McCullagh, who partnered True Artist today) rode her at Naas last year and said she got knocked down. She likes soft ground but went over the top last year. We thought she'd like the soft ground early in the spring and she has been working well. I was hopeful rather than confident. Both horses ran well and the lads are happy with them at home so hopefully they are as forward as we think they are.
O'Brien and Moore double up with Horoscope
He had a lovely run the first day here but then he went to Leopardstown and was beaten very easily,. Ryan was very happy with him there and we might have a look at the Guineas trial at Leopardstown for him. He said he'd be better on better ground, he's a good moving horse, but he got through it.
Meade wins Lincoln with Layfayette
it's nice when a plan comes together! . I'm delighted for the owners too because they haven't had a lot of luck lately. I put cheekpieces on him and Chris (Hayes) said they made some difference to him. He's quite a nice horse and hopefully he'll be able to build on that. The first day he ran here last year the ground was very quick and it took him a long time to get over it as he was sore after the run.
'Hyper individual' hurries home for Curragh win
I'd say Billy was cursing me on the way down as he's a hyper individual!. I'm absolutely thrilled. He stuck it out and I'm delighted for the horse because he's a real tough little man and he loves that ground. I'm so happy for everyone (Starting Monday Syndicate) that has stuck with him. They had him leased last year and bought him after that. There are a few more members now, my father-in-law and a few brothers-in-law, and I think they backed him today as well. We'll see what way he comes out of this and then see what is next for him.
Cyrus Dallin defies top weight in Curragh's finale
all last year he was knocking on the door and was costing us because he ran in all the big handicaps. He finishing midfield, fifth or sixth and we contemplated selling him but had no buyers. he loves an ease in the ground and that was his first time winning over that trip. I imagine he'll be back up to getting into the big handicaps after that. That'll pay his way for the summer. He could go up to seven or a mile on nice ground and there will be more days in him. It's great to kick off the season with a winner, we ran a good few. Unfortunately for us we have to get a lot of ours into handicaps whereas some of the bigger yards can drive on with them in maidens. We've plenty of horses and it's good to get a winner for Joey (Sheridan) as this could be a good season for him. Hopefully he'll drive on from here.
