Capri's sister makes the breakthrough in Cork opener
She stepped up plenty from her first run, she was very raw the first day. She'll be a lovely filly next year going a mile-and-a-half. I loved the way she quickened in the last furlong, and galloped out, she might have a little bit of class about her. It's not Dad's way to put them away so I'd imagine if there is a race for her over a mile somewhere she'll run again.
Nurse Barbara impresses on debut
We're delighted with her. She's as honest as the day is long, she is not the biggest filly in the world but she's got great heart and Colin absolutely loved her,. He said she winged the gates. First time out the only concern was would she be green but she basically led all the way and he pulled clear at the furlong pole because she wanted to do it, which is half the battle. He thinks she is better than a maiden winner. We'll see how she comes out of the race and take it from there. Colin loves that sprint track and she just floated on it. She's not the biggest but she doesn't need to be when she has a heart. She kept going. She was ready to go but it was the first time she saw grass and ours do come on an awful lot from the first run.
Silence Please makes it two from two
I'm delighted with that because she's the first horse I've had for Team Valor, so that was kind of important,. Shane said she was as green as grass and probably needs a mile. She's going to be a nice staying filly for next year. I had nowhere to go with her and the handicapper gave me a fair weight and she got the job done in the end. Nothing helped her as was drawn seven, out on her own, and she doesn't know enough to race out there on her own. Shane said she picked up great when he gave her a couple of smacks and the horses came either side of her, that helped her a lot. She wanted to win and she's very game. She needs to go a mile. She's in the Moyglare and she might go there. She's a nice filly and she'll come on a ton from that so we'll see where they want to go.
Romantic success for Lynam & McDonogh
I was concerned that the ground might have gone a bit quick for her but she reveled in it,. She ran very well here earlier in the year and I didn't think it would take me as long as it did to win a maiden with her. It's nice to win with those colours (Clipper Logistics Group) again. He (Steve Parkin) always has a horse with us and we've had a bit of good luck with him with the likes of Agnes Stewart, Midnight Cross and Hot Stone. She did it well. We'll see what the handicapper does and try and find a fillies handicap for her. My daughter bought her as a foal and Joe (Foley) bought her as a yearling off her, so she's been lucky for me with the foals she's bought.
Chagall completes quick 51/1 double for Lynam
I'm showing my age because I trained the father and the mother. I think the mother made the nine o'clock news, Dangle. First time out she ran at the Curragh in a maiden and was as green as grass. When Johnny (Murtagh) gave her a thump she took off and he had a job pulling her up, she finished fifth. We were called in before the stewards and she was banned for two months, Johnny was going to miss the Arc and my kids were crying for about a week because it was on the nine o'clock news that a trainer had been done. Stephanie has had horses with me a long time. The dam won and was group placed. This fella is a funny old devil but he loves front-running and he ran well from the front the last day. Even with all the runners I said to young Andy bounce out and try and make all. It was a long way up, it was a long sprint - a bit longer than a cigarette that's all I can tell you!. He got home anyway and it's good to get it.
