Sea looks a Star in the making
He's a nice horse. The ground was very soft and not many liked it and he didn't really either,. He's a lovely big horse but he's not the finished article yet. He's not a precocious type and has a lot of developing to do. He's in the National Stakes and will be in the Beresford. He's promising but there is a long way to go.
Snaefell gains group victory
The ground was a big factor. He deserved that and I'm delighted for Lady Clague, who has been great to us,. It's also nice for Rory to get the ride. Johnny (Murtagh) has done particularly well on the horse but it's nice for Rory to get the chance. He'll go for the Flying Five (Curragh August 31st). I was a bit concerned about the turn here today as he's always on a straight. He's a genuine Group 3 horse is these conditions.
Tanoura storms home for debut success
We like her and always thought she was a nice filly but I didn't fancy her on the ground today. I would have been happier to start her off in Dundalk,. I had written off her chance beforehand but decided to go ahead and give her a run. It didn't look like she would be anywhere turning in but once Mick gave her a flick she took off. She's in the Moyglare but she's not really a big filly and won't run too often. We'll see about the Moyglare or if we'll wait longer.
Again dominates in Debutante
She's in all the big fillies races and we'll see how she comes out of this before we firm up plans for her. She's a nice filly who handled the ground well. She has been coming forward well since her debut in Roscommon.
Breeders Cup on agenda for Sunset
That's very pleasing. She's a very adaptable and tough filly and she was unlucky not to win the Irish Guineas,. It's nice to win a group race with her. She ran an excellent race last time in America (when fourth in the American Oaks). She had a lot of travel problems getting there which didn't help her but she ran a very very good race and was flying home at the finish. It was very firm in America and very soft today. She's a very adaptable and very good filly. The only worry was whether she would handle the really heavy ground. We'll look at the Matron Stakes for her now (Leopardstown September 6th) while the Breeders Cup Filly and Mare Turf is the long-term target. It looks the obvious race for her.
We've always thought a lot of him and he's really coming now,.
He was entitled to win that. He ran a good race in the Irish St Leger last year and he's going to run in the Leger next,. He handles that ground but he's better on good ground. He's in the Melbourne Cup as well but we'll see how he gets on in the next one first.
