Carribean Sunset is set to be aimed at the Breeders Cup after an impressive victory in the Desmond Stakes.
The Dermot Weld-trained filly went to the front entering the straight in the Group 3 contest and she powered clear in the closing stages for a four-and-a-half length success.
"That's very pleasing. She's a very adaptable and tough filly and she was unlucky not to win the Irish Guineas," said Weld.
"It's nice to win a group race with her. She ran an excellent race last time in America (when fourth in the American Oaks). She had a lot of travel problems getting there which didn't help her but she ran a very very good race and was flying home at the finish.
"It was very firm in America and very soft today. She's a very adaptable and very good filly. The only worry was whether she would handle the really heavy ground.
"We'll look at the Matron Stakes for her now (Leopardstown September 6th) while the Breeders Cup Filly and Mare Turf is the long-term target. It looks the obvious race for her."
