D. Allan, rider of Take Cover (GB), trained by David C. Griffiths (in GB), reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount hung badly right. The Stewards enquired into an incident approximately 2 furlongs out involving Pearl Secret (GB), ridden by O. Murphy, placed sixth, Take Cover (GB), ridden by D. Allan, placed third and Iffranesia (FR), ridden by S. Foley, unplaced, where it appeared Pearl Secret (GB) and Iffranesia (FR) suffered interference. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion D. Allan was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly, and having taken his record into account, they severely cautioned him. Furthermore, they found D. Allan in breach of Rule 213 in that he failed to report in the first instance anything that may have affected the running of his horse, having stated in evidence that his mount had hung badly right in this race, they also severely cautioned him having taken his record into account.
