Well regarded Bullet takes Limerick opener
This lad is a serious horse. We knew we had a serious horse going for the Listed bumper with him earlier in the year. He is an absolute machine. I got him for nothing three and a half years ago at the sales. The man who sold him to me (Denis Bergin) said to me that if he didn't sell that he would take him. He is for sale. It might not have been the strongest of races but he is a fair one. It will take a fair few pounds to buy him. He travelled well the whole way and he likes soft ground.
Dont Tell Pa completes his hat-trick in style
He is improving and it will depend on what the handicapper does now as to where he will go next. In fairness Jane's seven pound claim is most valuable. He is only a handy horse and maybe next year he will jump a fence.
Steady Ed too good for The Crafty Butcher
He loved that ground and he won his point-to-point on it. He is a big galloping horse who jumps and stays. He will go back handicap chasing now. He is 18 hands high and we had to give him time to mature. Mullingar man Tommy Tynan owns him and it is his first success.
Bargain buy scores again for McNamara
I bought him at the Newmarket Horses In Training Sales and he was a cheap horse (2,500Gns) who has now won his maiden and handicap hurdle. He has done well and hopefully the handicapper isn't too hard on him . we'll go for something similar next.
Far Away gains elusive chase win
Far Away So Close is at pretty much the same mark over hurdles as his chase mark and hopefully he can prove competitive from a light weight in a handicap chase at some stages. However I'd hope the handicapper would drop him for his win today as he has beaten horses which shouldn't have finished as close to him and he has also taken a long time to win his beginners' chase. He should be a bit better on better ground but is an exposed horse. He's won four races for me and is placed most days he runs, so I wouldn't mind having a few more like him all the same!
Tornado gains deserved win in Veterans Race
I said to Frank Berry after his run at Fairyhouse (on Wednesday) that I wanted to run him here as he had more than a bit of work done. The young fella (Jody McGarvey) just misjudged things the last day. I told him to drop him in but he ended up nearly a furlong behind!. These races are great opportunities and I hope they don't do away with them. I brought Church Island over to England to run in one of them and he was rejuvenated after it. I'm hoping there will be one around Christmas for Dancing Tornado.
