Willie, Ruby & Rupert win Naas opener
he (Rupert Lamb) seems to have improved from last year. Hopefully we can tidy up his jumping and I think he'd prefer to go faster; you could see when they quickened up he jumped better. He could step up in distance but I think we'll keep him at that trip at the moment, if we can find the right races for him. It was a nice start to his season.
Clonard completes Mullins & Walsh treble
persistence pays off! He deserved that win. He could easily go out in trip as he's a dour stayer and a good jumper; he keeps improving with every run.
The Tullow Tank powers to Naas win
he's a nice horse. I thought he was in a bit of trouble at one stage but he stayed on really well. I suppose the Royal Bond Hurdle could be next; it's not set in stone but we're thinking that way and I think he'll be a little better going right-handed.
Riches gets back on track with chase win
I was worried after the way he finished up last season and we've changed things a bit. The main thing is I'm trying to keep him fresh and you probably won't see him too often. He just wasn't right after he won in Cork last season but he is some leaper and maybe that trip (2m3f) is more what he wants than three miles. I was pleased with the way he quickened between the last two fences and Davy said he didn't have to ask him to jump - he just did it.
Andy Mac steers Mrs Mac to hat-trick win
she's a lovely mare and it's my first time riding her. She jumped great the whole way but then just dived left at the last. She was grand today but felt like she could be a bit 'scatty'; I'd say she has learned a lot recently.
Golden Ticket scores overdue win
when he won his Bumper I thought he was going to be a grand horse. He has now found his level and it is nice to get a win with him.
Naas four-timer for Champion Trainer
he did it the hard way. He came from Wilson Dennison's and came highly recommended. He'd been very green at home and it's a pleasant surprise to see him do that in a good field of bumper horses. I'd imagine there's plenty of improvement in him and I'd imagine we'd be looking at a winners' bumper at Christmas for him next.
