Leceile gets act together
Leceile was entitled to win on her last run. She was very decent on the Flat but unfortunately she took an aversion to starting stalls. She jumped well there, apart from the first, and we'll go for a winners' of one and see what happens next. She was a very expensive foal in the States and has a great pedigree.
Dylan on the double for Meade
I was hoping he'd win like that and he did - we like him a lot. He disappointed us at The Curragh on his last run but it transpired his wind was wrong and he had an operation. I hope he'll be running in the good novice hurdles over the winter and he'll certainly be entered for the Royal Bond Hurdle. He won well over two miles there but I don't think he'll have any problems over 2m4f. He could go for one of those good novice hurdles at Navan next though.
Martin on the mark
Lucky Spring is settling better now than he used to and he's got a great attitude to racing. Andrew gave him a great ride. Raymond Moore, from Monasterboice, Co Louth who unfortunately wasn't able to come racing as he is in Portugal. The win gets us off the 13 winner mark for the year . we've been stuck on that for nearly a month but it's great to get another winner.
Meade & Carberry on one hell of a roll!
we've always liked Texas Jack although when he won at Punchestown, we thought our other fellow (fourth placed Johannisberger) was the better horse. However he picked up well there and did so again today. He was a bit ‘innocent again' today but it's a nice place (Fairyhouse) to bring them - there's plenty of open space and there is decent ground here too. He's a nice horse and hopefully will keep going the right way. He'll go for a two and a half miles novice somewhere now.
Knocklayde Vic lands gamble
Knocklayde Vic is with me only three or four weeks. He worked well enough during the week that he should be able to ‘shake a leg' here although he is probably better going left handed and running over three miles. He just needs to learn to relax a bit more too.
Motherway and Mangan win with Soul
Irish Soul had a nice run at Navan the last day over 2m7f but we decided to drop him back in trip today as he has plenty of ‘boot'. Andrew McNamara gave him a lovely ride the last day but we decided to put Pat up to claim the 5lbs today. Hopefully he can pick up another one of those but he'll be going chasing shortly as he jumps a fence well. He is owned by P J Mulcahy from Castletownroche, Co Cork - I rode plenty of point to point winners for him and he is a good owner with me now.
Malik is bumper king
King Malik ran a blinder here the last day but I shouldn't have run him at Limerick prior to that as the ground was too soft. We might put him away now or else he could have another run over hurdles, it will depend on the ground. He'll be a smashing horse for next summer, is very tough and has a heart of gold.
