The winner, Hollywoodien (FR), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Wetherby on 23 January 2020 where the gelding was pulled up.
Tom Symonds’s explanation that Hollywoodien (FR) had benefitted from the application of the first-time cheek pieces and by being ridden more prominently on this occasion was noted.
Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of Saint De Vassy (FR), which started favourite and was pulled up, during routine testing, revealed the gelding had bled from the nose.
