Juliet Capulet wins Leopardstown opener
Juliet Capulet is a filly with a lot of ability and got a nice lead today. She is very babyish . immature mentally, but is physically quite mature.
Await The Dawn scores impressive Kilternan win
Await The Dawn is an exciting horse and can go anywhere from here. He was very impressive winning his maiden last year but I probably travelled him too quickly to England subsequently. He has loads of class and Johnny (Murtagh) always liked him a lot.
Lillie Langtry wins Matron Stakes
Johnny gave Lillie Langtry a masterful ride . the filly didn't know she had a race and was only asked to race properly in the last furlong and a half. It was a peach of a ride. She is a very determined filly and was always very classy. Her next race will be in the Prix De L'Opera in France.
Hujaylea continues his winning ways
I don't know how I couldn't win with Hujaylea when he started off originally rated just 48! Today he won off 94 and is obviously improving . he had a little problem with his back, which we got treated and that must have been holding him back. I was worried about the drop back to seven furlongs but the ease in the ground and the strong pace helped. He got a dream run and Conor (Hoban, who partnered his first winner on the gelding in Novermber '09) gave him a great and very patient ride. He's a very very genuine horse but I've no plans from here . we may have to go for a Stakes race next!
Champion Cape completes Aidan's fab four
Seamus gave Cape Blanco a great ride and got the horse into a great rhythm. We always thought he was an unbelievably classy horse and he is more a 10 furlong horse than a mile and a half horse. He has lots of speed and, realistically, his courage made him last out the mile and a half trip in the Irish Derby. He moves brilliantly and has lots of options now including the English Champion Stakes and the Breeders' Cup in America.
Vivacious Vivienne wins for Kinsella/Hayes
Vivacious Vivienne disappointed badly the last day and confirmed my disappointment at The Curragh subsequently. We then decided to throw her out in a field, to walk around the farm, for the month of July but when she returned at Bellewstown recently, the 1m6f trip was too far for her. She did what she was supposed to do today and we'll wait to see what the handicapper does next before making plans.
Weld thwarts Ballydoyle five-timer
A Word Apart ran a cracking race here the last day and is a big, progressive type colt who had been working well at home.
Priomhbean is first lady in Leopardstown's last
