Skippin Court makes breakthrough in Listowel
Impervious maintains unbeaten record
I'm delighted with the way she won, considering she was keen enough the whole way and she won probably because she is a very nice filly. She won well the first day, she improved and I think she'll improve plenty off that as well. She is one to look forward to. She has a fair pedigree and longterm is one for the broodmare band. I'll sit down with Paul (McKeon, owner) and we'll make a plan but the Grade 3 mares novice hurdle at Down Royal in November is a possible target. I've been a long time waiting for a nice filly like her.
Run For Oscar in charge under Foley
He gave him a good ride, held him up three quarters of the way back and that was the plan, to come there at the second last. It worked out for once. They went a really good gallop and, this week, it seemed to suit to come from off the pace here as the ground is quite dead. He won well, we had a good claimer up and taking seven pounds off gives you a chance in these type of races. I'd say Jack won't be claiming for too long. I'm delighted for the owners and it is brilliant to have a winner here, especially with all my local trainers having winners this week.
Cosmic Rock lands gamble in Listowel
The ground has got tacky, which suited him and he finished his race strong on Monday and came out of it in great form. We were happy to take our chances and the step up in trip suited. He can get wound-up but is lovely straightforward horse. He is quite fragile so hopefully he'll be ok and we can have a great season with him. I thought he was way over-priced and thought he was a great each-way bet and I'm delighted for Tony (Carey, owner), who is a great supporter of mine and for him a have winner at his local track is great.
Definiteadare a decisive winner for Coopers
I fancied him no end today, he was in great form at home and the bit of juice in the ground helped. He is a very consistent horse and hopefully he'll win again over hurdles before going chasing. Unfortunately there was a 0-102 2m6f beginners chase for him at Killarney (October 3) but he'll be kicked out of that bracket now.
Good Times for De Bromhead with Listowel chasers
'Star of the future' Barry up and running
I'm a neighbour of Jimmy Mangan's and ride out for him and ride a horse for him in a point-to-point tomorrow. I go to John (Ryan) two days a week and this is great. I finished my Leaving Cert in June and ride out in a few different places. My brother John got me into John Ryan's yard so a big thanks to him. The race went great. it was a great performance but today is all about Brian Barry. To get a winner at Listowel for that kid is magic and he gave the horse a great ride. He will be a star of the future. Father Jed won't be going to Cheltenham but he's not too bad!
Cahill back with a winner through Boreen Boy
He was working well but with a small yard you couldn't be sure. We were happy to come to a winners' bumper as we wouldn't get into a maiden bumper first time out here. When we had him right, we wanted to run. We said we'd give him one run in a bumper, he was entitled to that, and if it didn't work he would go over hurdles. He has schooled to the last and now we can go where we like although he is also for sale. I bred him myself and still have the breed of him at home. He is tough and nothing gets the better of him and will be a great fun horse.
