An enquiry was held to consider interference approaching the bend leaving the back straight on the final circuit when Quarenta (FR), placed second, ridden by Sam Twiston-Davies, interfered with The Paddy Pie (IRE), placed fourth, ridden by Danny Cook.
The interference was found to be accidental as Quarenta (FR) had quickly changed leads, causing the gelding to lug left-handed which resulted in Cook having to take a slight check on the rail.
Wayne Hutchinson, the rider of the winner, Mahlermade (IRE), was also present in the enquiry but it was found he was not involved in the interference.
Following the race, Tom Cannon reported that Salmanazar (GB), which was pulled up, was never travelling; the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding, during routine testing, failed to reveal any abnormalities.
The Veterinary Officer further reported that Quarenta (FR), placed second, lost its right hind shoe and Duel At Dawn (IRE), which was pulled up, was treated for post-race heat stress.
