The winner, Royal Vacation (IRE), appeared to show improved form, compared with its previous run at Sandown Park on 8 December 2018 where the gelding finished sixth of the seven finishers, beaten by 32 lengths on Soft ground.
The representative of Colin Tizzard’s explanation that Royal Vacation (IRE) had appreciated the better ground, which was officially described as Good to Soft, Good in places on this occasion, was noted.

Following the race, Chester Williams reported that Tea For Two (GB), which started second favourite and was pulled up, was never travelling.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities.
