An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference approximately 1/2 a furlong out involving Edwardstone (GB), placed second, ridden by Tom Cannon and THEBANNKERKINGREBEL (IRE), placed third, ridden by Gavin Sheehan.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved Edwardstone (GB)'s placing as the gelding had come from behind Thebannerkingrebel (IRE) approaching the last hurdle and gone half a length clear before the interference occurred and Thebannerkingrebel (IRE) had then failed to make any significant inroads into the official beaten margin of 1 3/4 lengths on the run to the line.
Cannon was suspended for 3 days for careless riding as he had allowed his horse to drift left-handed without timely correction when not sufficiently clear of Thebannerkingrebel (IRE), causing Sheehan to be checked against the rail.
