Lovely start from Teahupoo in Ireland after dramatic conclusion
He's a nice horse. Obviously we had a lot of luck on our side there with Willie's horse going at the last,.
Poignant success — a 1st of 2021 in Ireland for McManus
It was very good and it's great to get it. It's great for JP and his family in tragic times. I pass on my deepest sympathies to them. She jumped well, travelled, did everything well and Mark was happy. We'll get over today and I'll have a chat with Frank (Berry). He'll talk to JP and see what the plan is. She's a nice mare.
La Chanteuse shows her true colours for the Crawfords
We've always thought plenty of her. On her first run back at Down Royal Ben rode her and he was disappointed with her,. She probably really needed it as she blew up half way around. She came here today and obviously has come on a good bit from it. JJ gave her a good ride and it's great to get it, they are hard to win. We were disappointed not to get a bit of black-type with her in her bumpers. We didn't sell her, and she's owned by my mother, so there is a bit of extra pressure on. She's entitled to take her chance in a better race. We could go across the water for a novice but at this point in time we'd probably be trying for a bit of black-type.
4 up for Rose and bigger targets await
She's doing everything right. We didn't really want to come here today but were forced to because we hope to run in Leopardstown in the good three mile handicap and wouldn't have got in without getting a few pounds,. Hopefully the handicapper puts us in at bottom weight. If she's fit and well we'll have to take our chance. She's moving up the grades nicely and where she stops we don't know, hopefully it's not for a while. There is a mares novice hurdle in Limerick in March and we'll aim for that to try and get a bit of black-type. The handicapper put her up 12lb for the last day and he's never far wrong. He's a judge in fairness. If he had put her up 12lb and she got murdered you say 'what's he at' but you can't complain. I'd prefer to be going up for winning than getting 5 or 6lb for finishing second. Paddy said he thought she might have got there too soon again today. We got held up with the frost and did a bit of roadwork with her. She did a piece of work on Wednesday on Oghill gallop and I thought it was as good a piece of work that I'd ever saw her doing. I've had horses rated above her over the years and I thought that was as good a piece of work as I'd seen. I thought if she brought that here we'd be in business again.
Tiger delights connections and backers with another big success
That really wasn't him. I fancied him that day but he just never showed up. His work at home has been quite good and I'm delighted he's put himself back on track. He's a horse with a big turn of foot. I was anxious the day I rode him in Punchestown that it could have been a little bit far for him. He does plenty when he's on the bridle so I had to get him switched off. He's a very quick horse so that trip isn't too sharp for him. We put a claimer on him the last day. It probably wasn't the claimer's fault because he got his instructions to ride closer to the pace and I think we used him up a little bit too much. Today when Sean got him relaxed, he was just a different kettle of fish. He's a brilliant jumper and he's a nice horse. He's going to get a fair old penalty for today so it might knock him out of handicaps. We'll enter him in the Grand Annual (at Cheltenham), but I would imagine he's going to have a lot of weight in that. I would think we'd probably look at Grade Threes. We'll have a look where we go. I thought he'd go for a two-mile-five handicap in Leopardstown at the (Dublin) Festival meeting, but I'd say that's a 150 race and I don't think he'd get into that now.
Aramax makes a good day better for connections at Fairyhouse
He won the 'Fred Winter' last year. Keith said he got an awful lot of confidence from the last day and he was a different horse. He was happy,. It's great to get him back winning with him being a Cheltenham winner the year before.
Enjoy the word as Murphy puts 1st winner on the board
That's great, it's a lovely feeling,. I thought he was in trouble and Conor said he didn't enjoy the ground today at all, he probably wants a bit of nicer ground. He's going to be a spring horse over those extended trips. We're just delighted to win with him today and we'll move forward from here. He might be a nice horse for handicap on spring ground. We'll see what the handicapper does.
Gerri completes Elliott Fairyhouse treble in impressive style
He's a nice horse. He's probably going to be a big chaser more than anything, a big staying horse down the road. We like him,. I don't think you'll see a whole lot more of him this season, he might have one more run. Obviously I'll have to talk to Brian (Acheson, owner) but these horses are all bought for the future. He's one for down the road.
