Going - Going changed to soft before sixth race. Overcast
King of Aran knocks out Rocky
You always have to take someone on in races. Our main opposition was the odds-on favourite, but if you don't take them on you can't win. He will have a break now as the ground is going against him.
He's A Delight scores on first start for Meade
He might go over fences now as he won three point-to-point's. He stays and jumps well. His owner Sean Murphy is from Galway and he didn't travel up today, so he won't be allowed to anymore!. There is a small chance he will go for a winners of one but he will probably go chasing.
Gambled on Castle takes the spoils for O'Connor
In fairness Barry Cash rode him the last day and said that he should be stepped up in trip. He is in again at Thurles on Thursday and he might go there but he needs the ground to be yielding or soft as he can't have good ground.
Crawford brothers combine for Streamtown win
She jumped sketchy at Kelso on her first start over fences but she put in two great jumps at the end today and the race worked out well for her. She is a well bred filly. That's my brother Steven who rode her and it's his first winner over fences. She is very consistent and that was only her second run over fences. I have twelve point-to-pointers in at the moment and I am only getting going with them.
Sixteenth time lucky for Paddy over fences
I had a winner last week in Tramore which was also ridden by Declan (Bates). This lad has been running consistently and he deserved to get his head in front. He has a dirty cut on his foot but if we can get that cleaned up he could go for a conditional riders handicap chase at Thurles in two weeks time. His owner Oliver Barden owns a pub in Dublin.
Perfect Day for the Crawford Clan
I think that is my first double. That is Ben's first winner in Ireland he has had two winners in England. I expected both of them to run well and with my two brothers riding them it's a perfect day. He was a bit unfortunate in some of his races. He won his maiden point-to-point last season and really put it up to Backstage in an Open earlier this year. He won convincingly last time out at Toomebridge. The ground didn't matter to him today and he could make into a four mile horse. He doesn't have the size for the Grand National but maybe the four miler at Cheltenham or the Ulster National.
He has improved with every run and he improved again today. I think he had more in the tank as he couldn't see the other horse coming to challenge him. The ground out there today is summer soft and I would be worried about him on real heavy ground. Staying trips will be ideal for him in the future.
