Stud boss records rare training success
She's owned by son and his wife Beena. It's a bit unexpected but it's great. On a couple of her runs last year she was entitled to win but we didn't know if she was straight enough. With the ground and the weather we didn't get a schooling race into her. She's by Old Vic which was half the battle. We'll keep her over hurdles this year and hopefully the handicapper is not too hard on her.
Benevolent atones for previous flop
I don't know what happened him in the north (Downpatrick). He had worked really well beforehand. It looked a terrible race but maybe the winner is not that bad. Anyway he was beaten after just two furlongs. I'd say he doesn't take a whole lot of work and probably needs further. Hopefully he jumps fences the way he jumps hurdles, he's some leaper! It was an ordinary race and he will have to improve to be a novice horse.
O'Neill ends barren spell
We've been a long time waiting on that. He had ability as a young horse but has had problems. He ran brutal the last day and we don't know why. He's my own so he's paid for his oats! I also had him entered at Limerick over 2m6f tomorrow and the trip would probably have suited him better but I decided to go to the track that he'd won at before and take a chance.
Russell doubles up on Skibabe
He ran a bit free in Listowel and he was very hot in the parade ring there. But we got him in late today and he was grand and calm. It didn't look a mighty contest but a win's a win and it's grand to get it.
Webb back in winners enclosure after 22 years
Russell goes top with 133/1 treble
It took him a while, and he did it well. He's just a bit in and out but that's the way he is.
Cascade cruises home in bumper
Nina bought him as a three-year-old. She brought him down to work at ours before his first run, and I didn't think he was fit enough. So when he finished third we were keen to buy him. Michael O'Leary was joking beforehand that if he didn't win he wanted a refund. I texted him to say there was no refund needed now.
