Sir Allen could be Cheltenham bound after game Naas success
Hands Of Gold beats Purse Price again
He came out of Gowran really well and I was very happy with him coming into today,. He has a great attitude, he got into a lovely rhythm there even though the slow pace wasn't ideal and on the drier ground it was going to be interesting to see how he got on. He's going the right way and I couldn't be happier with him, he's a lovely horse for the future. We'll aim him at Punchestown now but we'll have to find a race in between as that is ten weeks away. I have to say how grateful I am to JP, like so many others. You'd have to call him the patron saint of jumps racing in Ireland because we'd all be lost without him. It's lovely to have a nice horse for him again. I said to Ricky don't be too bothered over the third and fourth last so you can set him up for the last two. My father always said if you keep standing back and jumping you can end up on the ground. I'm delighted with him, he's going the right way and he's a big baby. Whether we go chasing next season or not, there is plenty of time to think about that and we'll see how the season ends up.
Mangan on the mark with Spillane's Tower
He's a nice horse and he will be a better horse next year as he's still a bit babyish,. He's a horse with a bright future hopefully. Luke said he needed the two-mile-three and he wouldn't want the ground any quicker. He's a big frame of a horse and another summer's grass will do him the world of good. He got a few little niggly setbacks (after Wexford), nothing major. To be fair to the firm concerned they believe in giving them time if they get a setback.
'A day for old trainers' as Luimneach completes McManus treble
This is a day for old trainers! Arthur Moore and myself, give us the stuff and we might be able to do the job!. He's a grand horse, we could say we were lucky at the last with the other fella (blundering). He pulled hard in Leopardstown last time and he ran a cracking race considering. He didn't stop pulling until going to the second last. Over two miles today they went quicker and he didn't pull as much. He's a beautiful looking horse, a fine big horse. That will give my wife Helen a big gee up at home watching the TV. When he came first she said 'oh I love that horse'.
Magic front-running performance from Daze & Blackmore
Battling Billaway makes it four in-a-row
He needs to improve a bit, I think, to retain his championship in England but we'll hope for the best. I was always going to win. He always steps at one every year in this race. I'm glad I didn't fall off, it would have been quite embarrassing if I did. I was always going to win but he is just getting older and I don't know if it's wiser or lazier but anyway, he won! He keeps me fit anyway. He is a brilliant jumper but just once in every race he loses concentration, that's just him. We put a tongue-tie on him today, maybe that wasn't the right thing to do, maybe he resented it, but I thought on the first lap that I was travelling very sweetly. I wouldn't mind putting a pair of blinkers on him, I don't know if Willie thinks the same. We'll have to consider it I think. He is not getting any younger and it's going to be hard to go back and win at Cheltenham. I think there is only one or two horses in the yard that have won more races than he has. He has given everyone lots of sport and will be very hard to replace. I was only bopping away on him and I'm even regretting hitting a slap or two, I just wasn't sure if the horse on the inside was coming with a run, I just couldn't quite see. There was more there. Once he got up against the rail and I got my stick in my left hand, he won better than it looked.
Samui looks smart on debut
He's a grand horse, there is plenty of improvement in him too as he had a good blow after the race,. We like him, he goes well. He's definitely a nice horse. Jamie said he was still green and only when he got there did he put his head out and actually gallop. He probably wouldn't go on real winter heavy ground.
