Improving delights Leahy with smooth Limerick success
He got upset in the stall when he ran at Listowel the last day and that's the only thing I can put my finger on,. The stalls handlers had to grab hold of him but he walked in perfectly today and I'm delighted.
"Job done" for Alex D
It is job done as he picked up a Tattersalls Book One bonus for winning today,. We probably started him off sooner than we should have as he is very immature and we gelded him. He has a high rating for obvious reasons and got very lonely out there in front on testing ground today. It is not nice ground. He was the best horse in the race and we said we'd treat him like the best horse in the race and he kept it simple from a wide draw. He was gassy after his run the last day and has come on from that. That could be it for the year because that will take it out of him and the spring won't be long coming around either.
'Proper horse' for sale following 40/1 Limerick win
he has a really good pedigree and I really thought he was a proper horse but just needed that ground. He is out of a Group winning mare who is by Lope De Vega so he loves soft ground but not quick, and he is better than most horses are on soft but can go on good. He knows nothing and this could be a real horse. The way he did that, for what he has done, he could be anything; he is for sale.
Martin pleased to win for lucky owner Moore again
Rutledge bags second winner in two days
she is a tricky filly, can be keen but we have worked her out and she trots down to the start early now. She ran a very respectable race here the last day on her first handicap run and while I'm a bit shocked, I thought she'd run a big race. She is tough, genuine and is still green so there might be another day in her. She likes slow ground, will go a mile and I don't think she'll go to Dundalk.
Another big mile prize goes Saltonstall's way
He is a fabulous horse and to be honest I thought he'd struggle today on the ground but he went through it very very easy; I just hope the handicapper doesn't get carried away as they are getting well strung out today,. It is a pleasure to have him, what he has done for us in the past two years is amazing and he is a dream horse to have. He wouldn't carry a penalty in a Listed race so we will try and find something for him before the turf season ends and then finish him up until next year.
Limerick and York and same result for Armagh's McNally
Foley is away and Colin is at play
That is not before time but he did it well. Hopefully we can get another win out of him before the flat season is out and surprisingly for the age of him (six) he has not run on heavy ground before,. It was a bit of an unknown but he handled it well and it opens up options. Hurdling will definitely be on the cards and we originally bought him to go jumping but he hated it. He seems to be jumping better now and should be competitive in handicap hurdles.
