Something Abouther relishes step up in trip
She had a couple of good runs. Paul (Shanahan, part-owner) was always looking for a mare and we bred her at home. She won her bumper but then things just went wrong. In fairness to Paul and the lads they gave me plenty of time with her and it's done her the world of good. Aidan said the step up in trip didn't do her any harm. She's a nice mare and it's nice to get the maiden out of the way. Aidan said she handled the ground fine and I'd say she's fairly versatile. I'll chat with Paul and the team and see what they want to do but after that you'd love to keep her going. That family only gets better with time so if she keeps going hopefully she could progress into a nice mare.
Gilligan shines again on The Greek
Danny gave him a great ride. He doesn't always find a whole lot when he gets there but in fairness he was good and positive on him,.
Roche & Kelly double up
The horse that fell at the last was probably unlucky and I'd say we just picked up the pieces of a bad race. It's great he won anyway,.
Eve Moneypenny a 50/1 winner for Bowe & McGarvey
That's a nice surprise. She's always shown plenty of ability but she's a little big highly strung and never really helped herself in point-to-points. She had to be dropped out and then when she'd creep she'd miss a fence. Point-to-pointing wasn't her thing so we said we'd give her a chance. The boys at home were reasonably happy that she was going to be good enough for this and that hurdling was her job. We said we'd give her a chance instead of selling her on like a lot of ours. She was good there and to be fair you have to give the man on board plenty of credit, he gave her some ride. He made that look easy and she's not easy. I'd say the drop back in trip and going an honest gallop helped, things were a little bit simpler. Point-to-pointing is not every horse's cup of tea and she's one of those. She's getting better with racing. I think we'll keep her on the go for the summer and see what happens. We'll play it by ear.
O'Connor times it well on Da Capo Glory
He's a lovely horse, that's his third win. He was my first winner after getting the licence so he's flying the flag for us,.
Elliott & Gilligan snare another brace
On her run last year she was entitled to do that,.
Striking on the mark for Harrington
It's not before time but he had two great runs. He jumps like a buck and he loves that ground,. We'll go for a novice hurdle now and see how much he can step up. He's getting there and he can go back on the Flat as well, a mile-and-a-half on the Flat as a mile-six just gets to him a bit.
Maddens' outsider gets bumper in stewards' room
I fancied him but heard a world of talk about Willie Mullins’ horse. I was amazed how easily he cruised into the race and he deserved to get it (in the stewards’ room), I think. I’d say he could be sold. The owner (daughter Sarah Ann) wants to sell, she wants money!. He’s a full-brother to (three-time winner) Forgetthesurprise
