The winner, Pistol Whipped (IRE), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Newbury on 6 March 2021 where the gelding finished eleventh of fourteen, beaten by 33 ½ lengths.
Nicky Henderson’s representative’s explanation that the gelding benefitted from positive tactics and being able to dominate on this occasion was noted.
Pistol Whipped (IRE) was routine tested.
Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that The Flying Sofa (FR), placed second, was lame on its left fore.
