Charter looks smart as Lyons wins with first juvenile
That was nice. It's all about two-year-old's for me and she's our first throw of the dice,. I don't have to do much with these horses when they come to me. They are all very straight forward. My job is just to cuddle them, make sure that they're eating and sleeping and learning how to gallop. That's her first time on grass and you'd like to think there is plenty of improvement in her given the way we do our business. Colin said she rode very green. There were rumours about the second and if they are to be believed it means we have a smart horse. I'm delighted with her and you'd like to think there is plenty of improvement. The obvious race would be to come back here for the fillies listed contest. I'd say she'll learn plenty from that, and will need to. Going forward we always thought she was a seven-furlong plus filly. It's nice to see our first throw of the dice with two-year-old's winning. The rest of them will be a long time coming out as we have very few to go early. Colin said it didn't even feel like he was going to get there early doors, he was in trouble and she wasn't letting herself down, but that was pure greenness. As I said we don't bring them away. I love them to run and if they win we'll handle it but I love them to improve for the benefit of the run. It was my first War Front. He seems to be the order of the day at the minute and I'm delighted to have one.
Keane doubles-up on 'very fast' Zodiacus
She's very fast. We thought she was good but you are always afraid when you go for a maiden that you are going to come up against something,. She improved a lot from her last run and she's very pacey. Colin said she's still very green. She did it the hard way really as she was on her own and all the pace seemed to be on the stand's side. Hopefully she'll come on from that. I'd say that's probably as quick as she wants the ground, I'd say the softer the better with her. She's a very nice filly. There is a Listed race coming up in Cork, whether it is a bit soon or not we'll have to see. It's a six-furlong three-year-old and we might have a look at that. It's nice to have one that class, she seems very good.
Mokhalad justifies strong market support
That was impressive. The run the last day was very good, considering it's a very quick five in Tipperary,. He came out of it grand so we said we'd let him take his chance. Shane was saying that he appreciates that little give in the ground. We might just give him a little break now, a couple of weeks off, and have a look at what is coming up later in the summer. Six is his trip, he does get seven so we have options, but he just needs a little bit of give in the ground and good to yielding is ideal. We'll wait and see what the weathers does and pick something out again. We'd hope to get to a premier handicap at some stages along the line. If he could do that at the Curragh in one of the big handicaps we'd be laughing.
Super impressive from I Am
He's a horse that we thought a lot of last year and we stuck him in the Irish Guineas,. Obviously he's a long way off running in a Guineas but he's making shapes of being a very nice horse. That was a very competitive handicap and he's gone and made them look like handicappers. Leigh said he didn't have any choice but to make the move that he made when he made it. He didn't fight with him, let him stride on and he said when he got to the front he switched off and was idling. We might run him in the Tetrarch at the Curragh and if he was to come through that we could maybe think about running him in the Guineas. It's a long way away and I don't want to sound like a lunatic saying he's a Guineas horse after winning a handicap but he's gone and won well and he's beat some decent horses. He furnished greatly over the winter and that's really stood to him. He was second first time out at the Curragh and after that his runs petered out. Second time out he was just a bit too enthusiastic here and on his third run he was as weak as a kitten. We probably shouldn't have run him and then we threw him away and it stood to him. He's an exciting horse to have.
Miracles another well-backed winner at Naas
McGuinness & Cleary on the mark with Taceec
That's my first grass winner this year and I was getting a bit worried for a while that I couldn't train on grass!. We had him through the winter. He won in Wolverhampton and then he let us down in Newcastle so we gave him a break. We always thought he'd be better on grass and I think he will improve. Olly Deely is the main man in the syndicate and he's a Galway man. He'd have to go up a few more pounds but if he did that's where he will be targeted at. He'd have to win again to get into a race down there but I think he will progress and will win again. The draw is very biased out there today and the inside draw is massive, why I don't know. He was drawn low and he had to kick when he did, there was no option. He said he would have taken the bollocking coming in if he had been beat.
Straightforward success for Jack Yeats
He had a good run the last day,. I got it fairly handy up front, myself and Billy (Billy Lee on Mackqeez), and I quickened up well and stuck at it well.
