Niven makes the breakthrough over flights
I'd say probably the trip around somewhere like here suits him,. He'll have a run in a handicap somewhere now. He'd been going well for us before and I ran him quick, back in a Flat race, and I don't know what it was but he turned off and it took a while to get him back going again. We had to give him a break and he's come back now. The owners (Cattle On The Road Syndicate) are neighbours of mine and it's great to come and get a win here as this place is fantastic. They deserve every credit you could possibly give to them.
Nothing Lucky about this 50/1 winner
Awayinthewest gets her turn
We kinda came down today saying if we got second we'd have six grand for her and we'd still be able to go for a maiden,. They've brought in new rules though now to catch out bigger lads than me. She's not eligible for a lot of the maiden hurdles and you can't plan as well as you used to. You can't be placed now for some of the mares maiden hurdles. It wasn't brought in to get me but it was getting me with her. That's a good series overall though. We said we'd come down here when she was well, and it worked out which is about the size of it. She's tough. She was jammed in and had to work hard at it. Having the rider she had of course done her no harm either!
Consistent Indian follows-up on Tipperary success
I'm very happy and I had to come here - the handicapper gave her twelve for the last day,. I wouldn't come back as soon but because of the mark I had to. I'll probably give her a little break now and maybe aim her at the likes of Galway or something. I'll take my time and look at the likes of there or Listowel. I'm hoping to go for a handicap on the Flat as well before the end of the season when there's a bit of dig in the ground. That's five from her last seven now and two seconds. She's very honest and I have her half-sister as well.
Turasoir gets Nicholson off the 'cold list'
She was third in Clonmel on her second last run - on the Flat - and we just thought she was a bit lazy,. We put cheek-pieces on her then for the last day and they drove her through the clouds. We took them off for today and that's the way to ride her - from behind. She loves that ground and I bought her from Pat Tallis as I was short of horses at the time about a year and a half ago. She's a nice summer mare and the ground was just lovely for her there. I picked up the Racing Post this morning and they had me on the cold list - I said by God I better get off that!
Rocky proves tough under Colgan for Mahon
Robbie (Colgan) said he was good everywhere and that he had the race in the bag going to the last. He said he'd winged everything and he said he went to the last and asked him to shorten, but Denis (O'Regan) said the same last year that he'd be trying to bring him back and then it'd be just bang. It's grand because it's been hard to get off the mark this year with the ground and everything.
Robin another win for Carlow
