Final Orders another for in-form Torrens
He has been threatening to do that. I thought the way the race was being run that it would suit him. They went a good gallop and he came from off the pace. He showed us enough at home to suggest there was races to be won with him. He will mix it between the flat and jumping now. He is young and he is game. The last day (sixth at Gowran) things just didn't work out and we put a line through that. I wasn't sure about the ground today but he handled it anyway. I'd say he wouldn't want really deep ground being by Camelot, but Simon (Torrens) said he handled it well enough.
'Master of a ride' from Hayes sees Buck come good
He is a half-brother to Fayonagh and we had been very disappointed with him up until today. The penny has been slow to drop. He didn't jump well but Brian gave him an absolute master of a ride and made a man of him today. He was just running on his nerves other days. Brian gave him a lovely run down the inside and picked a bit of nice ground for him. Despite jumping bad we are delighted with him. The family improve with age and the penny is only beginning to drop. Hopefully the handicapper won't be too hard on him because it was an unplaced maiden. I don't know if he is man enough for a handicap yet so he might go for a winners of one first. He definitely has to improve his jumping and we'd like him to relax a bit more. He was hanging again today which he tends to do in races. Unfortunately, he is the last one we have out of Fair Ina because I sold her. He is an important one and he is from Solerina's family. At some stage he should go over fences, as he has the size. He is beginning to learn.
Facile win for Minella Indo on seasonal reappearance
No need for Walsh to get busy on Andy Dufresne
It was a good performance and very straightforward. He got close to the fourth last both times but apart from that he was very good. Speaking to Mark (Walsh) he said we could step him up in trip so I'd imagine he'll step up to two and a half miles the next day. I'll talk to his owners now but I'd imagine he'll go for something like the Drinmore. It looked like he was going better at the line than he was two out so I'd say a step-up in trip will suit him.
