An enquiry was held into the reason why Chris Gordon had declared King Cnut (FR) a non-runner due to the ‘Going’ in this race with the going officially described as Good, when the gelding had previously won at Plumpton on ground officially described as Good to Firm, Good in places on 22 October 2018.
Gordon was interviewed and explained that in his opinion he felt that the ground was firmer than described, in particular on the landing side of the fence on the top of the hill and he was therefore not happy allowing the gelding to take its chance today.
