Ivan holds off Kitten in Fairyhouse opener
I think the chiffony (type of bit) and the hood made a big difference to him. Also the fast ground and they went a faster pace so it was easier to settle him. He is starting to look like the horse we thought he was earlier in the season. I don't know whether Punchestown will come too soon, we will see how he comes out of this.
Thousand shows he still has it
He must be a iron horse to do what he did! . He had a very hard race at Aintree, but because of his age and the stage he is at in his career I decided to let him take his chance, and maybe I wouldn't have done it with a young horse. He probably doesn't do as much at home as he used too, so we put the cheekpieces on him, and we put a stablemate up beside him as well. Mourad (finished fifth) is coming back to himself as well. We got him out of a claimer in France so they are not all expensive horses. With Punchestown being a week later this year, it means the race in France will come a week sooner, so we might skip Punchestown and go for the Prix Barka and then the Franch Champion. I've a list of people who want him when he is retired for a hack, but I might have to jump the queue myself!
Cara's back with a bang
I'm delighted with that. He always seems to run well fresh. He's had more than his fair share of little problems,. We'll see how he comes out of this but he'll probably bypass Punchestown and we'll freshen him up and pick a little target. All his form has been on a bit of nice ground. He's so fragile and doesn't take a lot of racing though. He has schooled well over fences. He's not the biggest in the world but jumps well.
Expression looks smart prospect
He's a nice horse. He's a big galloper and looks a three-mile chaser. He would want a bit softer ground and will be a nice horse with a summer's grass,.
Geraghty wins the Irish National on Door
He was in a grand position all the way, and he jumped away well. Everything went right for him. Barry gave him a great ride, he knows what he is like and he has seen what he is like. He has done nothing wrong all season and he ran a great race in Cheltenham as well. He is a nice big horse and he has a bit of class about him which you need in these type of races. We needed Barry to get him home in end. After Cheltenham there wasn't a whole lot left for him really and we thought this was the race for him.
Quick double for Geraghty as Une delivers
When Nadiya De La Vega won this race last year I sat at home and cried. John and Chich were two of the greatest mates in the world. We came over to win the race and I didn't go, so I knew after last year I had to be here. It is a great race to win and it is an emotional occasion. Ironically I had the first two and Jessica (Harrington) had the third, with everything that has happened recently (the recent passing of Johnny Harrington).
Smurfer springs a surprise for Shark
The good ground made a big difference to him. He needs a trip and good ground.
Success for Investment in the last
Just greenness beat him at Cork. It is not his fault he didn't win before now. He is well bred and I expect him to go all the way to the top as a chaser. He is a half-brother to a good horse in Down In Neworleans (and Chomba Womba).
