Gentry tops in Roscommon opener
I was a bit worried about the ground. It was very heavy the last day in Gowran. Declan said he raced out wide for the better ground here. It's nice to win with him and we'll see what kind of handicap mark he gets now.
No problem in making it three for Abby
We're delighted. She's a tough honest filly and Connor gave her a great ride. It was very straightforward. It was a lot to ask to come back for three races in just over a week but it's just testament to her honesty. We'll just see how she progresses now in the handicap. Although she runs in Ger's (fellow trainer Lyons) colours, there's three of us involved, Ger, Eddie Lynam and myself . we all own an equal third. We bought three fillies at the sale for the Muppets Syndicate and Ger's won last year, there's this one and Eddie's hasn't made it to the track but we won't hold that against him . much!
Toe The Line right on her game
Cliff House a good buy for Ward
He's a good tough horse and he'll win again. I'd say he wouldn't like it as soft as this and he'll go jumping in due course. He won in Tipperary very impressively on better ground,.
More joy for Burke and his followers
He had a nice run the first day on ground that was probably a touch quick for him. He was kind of on his head from the word go the last day but he ran well only beaten ten lengths. I was confident enough coming here today but I thought on paper it was a decent enough bumper and I'd have been happy if he'd been placed. He's done it well though and I think he'll be a nice horse. All of his family have taken time. Rua Lass (dam) who we have fond memories of (first winner as a public trainer) was the one that got me going and I could do with something like her at the moment to be honest about it.
Sadler's one to remember for De Bromhead
He was good and we're delighted with him. He jumped really well and looked to really enjoy himself. Hopefully that's his game. I think we'll leave him off now but we'll speak to Roger and see. We'll bring him back for the autumn then when there's plenty of nice races for him.
