Winter Fog provides James Murphy with landmark win
James has ridden a few point-to-point winners but that’s his first winner on the track. The last day we rode this horse to get home on heavy ground but the stewards weren’t happy (horse banned for 42 days, trainer fined €2,000). The ground was more suitable today and he’ll tip away for the summer. I went from a restricted licence and had my first runner with a full licence yesterday. I train mainly for point-to-points but with the way things are we had to go this way.
Teescomponentsyess delivers for Hanlon and McGarvey
He’s a lovely big horse. I bought him in England for four grand and he won his bumper well. He jumped too big the last day in Fairyhouse but today he went on. He got a freebie up front which you like to see as he’s not fast. It’s lovely for the owners who are from Limerick. He’s going to make a lovely chaser down the road. I think he’ll be better on better ground, and will be more of a summer horse than a winter horse.
The Great White devours his rivals in Limerick
Conor said he had plenty of horse. He enjoyed the ground, they went a good gallop and the race sort of fell apart a bit. He’s in again at Kilbeggan on Friday, so we might go again if he comes out of this okay.
Rathnaleen Tou justifies strong support
She’s a lovely straight forward mare. Kevin is riding real well and he comes in to ride work twice a week. He’s a really good rider. She had done some lovely bits of work with horses that we like so we thought off a mark of 80 she was well-in. I was a bit worried about the rain as her form is on better ground. She’d worked well on grass with a dig in it about a month ago so I wasn’t overly concerned about it. It’s far from heavy winter ground.
That's Lifebuoy sinks the opposition
She had a couple of good runs in maidens. She was third in Fairyhouse behind Peter Fahey’s good mare (Royal Kahala). The ground is a little bit better today and we rode her wide to get better ground. Philip Donovan gave her a great ride. She’s a lovely mare going forward and will win again hopefully.
