He is from a very good family and his dam is a half sister to Newmill and he is also closely related to Mount Colah. The breed is in the O'Keeffe family for over 40 years and my grandfather had the original mare, the great granddam, which he bought in 1963. J P O'Keeffe, trainer
The Stewards fined G.T.Lynch, trainer, ?350 for lodging a passport in respect of Follow The Moon, in which the vaccinations did not conform with the provisions of Rule 91. The Stewards allowed the horse to run on receipt of the trainer's written assurance that the vaccinations were in order. The Stewards held an enquiry into the circumstances surrounding the vaccination of Follow The Moon in this race. Evidence was heard from Ms Joan Taylor, Turf Club Veterinary Officer and Mr Jody Daniels, authorised representative, for G.T. Lynch, trainer. Ms Taylor stated that when she examined the passport of Follow The Moon it was not correctly vaccinated in accordance with Rule 91. When questioning the trainer's representative regarding this he had stated that the horse had not received the required vaccination. The trainer's representative stated to the Stewards that the horse had in fact been vaccinated by a veterinary practice in Limerick and when speaking to the Turf Club Veterinary Officer he had not been fully clear and may have been misunderstood as a result. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer accepted she may have misunderstood the trainer's representative. Having considered the evidence the Stewards allowed the horse to run under Rule 90 (iii) subject to a fine of ?350 on the written assurance from Mr Daniels that the vaccinations were in fact in order. . The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Hedgeinator, trained by Alan Fleming, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be blowing hard post race.
