Thyne gets it right on fifth start over hurdles
She has good bumper form but I couldn't find anything wrong with her after her run the last day. We just couldn't put our finger on it. She will have a summer break now and come back for a winter campaign. I'm not sure whether we will keep her hurdling or go chasing.
Ballyadam eases to maiden hurdle success
He won a point-to-point two years ago but he had leg trouble and two wind operations after that. I thought I would never get him back and his last operation was his last chance. I thought he was very good one time but he disappointed in his last two runs. I thought he would win a novice hurdle no problem. My horses weren't right when he was running poor but he is only coming to himself now. He is crying out for fences but if it stays wet we might run him in a two and a half mile or three mile novice hurdle. We will more than likely put him away now as he is three mile chaser in the making.
Won wins as The Fonze suffers heart attack
He deserved that as he has been unlucky a few times. He was running a cracker at Aintree when he was brought down (in the race won by Big Buck's). He wasn't quite himself on a few of his best runs this year. He will be kept on the go now for the summer and hopefully he will pick up a few more races like this. It is a special win for the family as a good friend of ours, Collette Cagney, passed away recently. She use to come racing regular when Won In The Dark would run.
Raven flies home to end Hayes' barren spell
Lar Corbett is back and so are we! . He is a genuine horse and we are delighted with the way he is coming on. The crowning of the cake was that Mikey Butler rode him as he rang me last week asking could he ride him. He stayed on nicely at Gowran (last time out) and he liked the better ground today. He will probably go for a novice race next.
Gamble landed as Casey comes out on Top
He runs well fresh and he won first time out last year as well but didn't win again after that. It's nice to be in the winners enclosure again. We will try and keep him fresh for the season. He might be a bit low to get into any of the big handicap chases but we might run him in a winners of two and then hopefully he would sneak into the Galway Plate.
Notions takes the Hunters Chase for Bolger & JT
I fancied him at Punchestown but he let us down. That was definitely ride of the week from John Thomas.
Aonvaar takes the bumper as Elsie runs out
He is a nice horse and I always thought a lot of him. He ran in a bumper at Fairyhouse won by that good horse of Willie Mullins, Champagne Fever. He travelled well that day but just got bogged down in the heavy ground. He should have won the last day at Thurles but he lost ground at the start. He is the makings of a very nice horse.
