Mikey works for Henry (de Bromhead, trainer of runner-up Pidoyne) and I'm delighted for him as he is a very good 5lb claimer. I was disappointed with him as I thought he'd be better than he is and the Racing Club weren't here today as I didn't give them any encouragement to back him today. But there were a lot of withdrawals and he loved the going - that was the key. We also changed his training as he mostly lives out in the field now. He had allergies which were affecting him and living outdoors seems to have worked.
No Fussing leads home landmark 1-2 for Tim Doyle
It is great to get a result like that, it's my first 1-2 and I've rarely ran two in a race. I thought both would run well and didn't think there was much between them - they both ran well on their last run. I didn't mind which of them won!. They are two nice, progressive horses for the summer. Both will go handicap hurdling and Monza Man is a real chaser in the making and had a brother Staker Wallace who was placed in Cheltenham twice. You have good and bad weeks with homebreds and you need to keep selling. When the horses are out of form it is a struggle but when they're on a good run, there is always interest in horses. Metamorphius runs in the Fred Winter Hurdle for Paul Nolan tomorrow having won a maiden hurdle for us.
Papal Lodge relishes stamina test for Fahey/Flanagan
He was looking for a step up in trip but we haven't been running many horses recently as they weren't a hundred per cent. He is tough and stays at it and will be better on nicer ground. He is plenty big enough to jump a fence but we'll see how he goes over hurdles first and will run away during the summer. It's great for my daughter Kate who is in Transition Year and rode him work last Friday and was raving about him. It is great for the owners too, who are new to the yard so this is important.
