For Everyone springs surprise in Ballinrobe opener
We thought he'd go well in the first juvenile hurdle of the season over at Hexham but he had an awful run over on the boat,. He went nuts when he landed so that was that. The form from his last run at Limerick on the Flat has worked out very well though. He's even schooled over fences and he's savage to jump. We've had four beaten favourites from our last nine runners and it's great to get that. I'm not sure where he'll go next but he'd prefer to go the other way around.
Ryder & Kennedy strike with Clear Left
She's been very frustrating but we left off the hood and put on the tongue-tie today,. These races (for horses that have been unplaced up to now) are a great initiative as they give the likes of her a chance. Today could have been the end of the road if things didn't happen. It's testament to Denis' patience (owner Denis Hannon), as I've been telling him for a long time that I thought she was nice.
Alfred makes all for father and son team
Zoffalee takes the feature for Maxwell & McNamara
It was a nice pot for him to win and he's entered at Tramore on Thursday,. He might go there for the same money under a penalty. If he's okay in the morning that is. We were tempted to go to Galway with him. However after his run in the Ladies Derby we said we'd keep him for this good prize and he obviously likes Ballinrobe.
Le Hachette lands gamble in style
She has to be trained from the field and she's one that's given us all sorts of problems,. We were going to give up on her but she has a brilliant pedigree and we said we'd point-to-point her. She could have won all three days in the points but she eventually got there one day at Longford in a bog. She had a run in Kilbeggan to put her spot-on for this.
Malbay makes the breakthrough
She was well-backed through the day so there was a bit of pressure on,. To be honest I thought she was a bit unlucky here last time. She should have won then but she's made up for it now.
Druim delights Dunne
It was great to get Jamie,. When I rang him yesterday morning he said he'd ring back to let me know if he could ride in ten minutes. It took him half-an-hour. I'm sure he didn't fancy the drive to Ballinrobe without good reason!. He's a gorgeous horse from the family of Dun Doire. With that pedigree we said we'd change tactics today and I knew it would take a good one to go by him. His half-sister Annie Angel won twice for the Skeltons recently and he was due this after two good runs at Cork.
