Tilly Trotter shows her Dundalk quickstep
Veil Of Stars shines bright under lights
I thought she was nearly entitled to win as she'd a nice run the last day here in a good maiden. This was a drop in class. Ross gave her a lovely ride as she can be a bit buzzy. I'm delighted for him as he worked hard to claim the 3lb. He doesn't often do 8st 6lb.
Taj Mahal heading the right way
He's still a big baby but it's a step in the right direction. He's a horse that we have always thought plenty of and the trip was a bit sharp but he got away with it as it was a drop in class.
Ambassadorial in charge on polytrack
He's a smart colt and did it well. He travels and quickens, and went to the line strong. I think he'll keep improving. He'd not done much and surprised us first time out, and he's not been away since. That was a big step up from his maiden. That will probably be it for this year but we will have a chat with the team and see what they think.
Halford and Smullen at double with Kadra
They are three nice fillies and it's a shame they were all clashing but the prize-money was good. They are all suited by the surface and the distance, and the horses are in good form. Kadra needs pace and it was a bit too soft for her at Roscommon the last time. She could come back here for the (Listed) Cooley Stakes (October 28).
Black Agnes bolts up for Smyth and Kelly
I thought she was a penalty kick the last day at Ayr but the meeting was called off after we had travelled over. I was afraid she was boiling over a bit after that so we gave her a strong bit of work with My Brother, who is rated 87, and she worked well. I thought she would take a bit of beating but was disappointed that she was drawn in 14. Shane deserves plenty of praise for the ride he gave her.
89/1 treble for Halford in Dundalk
He had the form and we left the cheek-pieces off which helped him to relax a bit more. It was a good ride from Conor. He's not the easiest of rides and Conor is good value for his claim.
