Better from Bob in Down Royal opener
That was well-deserved. It was unfortunate Robbie (Colgan) wasn't on him. Graham gave him a great ride and he took the weight off. He missed a few, he's better jumping a fence than a hurdle. He jumps fences for fun. I might give him a wee break now to the Spring time as he's been busy and he takes a lot out of himself. He'll go over fences next.
Unbeaten Run now 5 from 5
She's improving all the time. She's a very slick jumper and is very sharp. She was a bit novicey at the last.
Excellent Robin too much for Fire
She has just kept improving so we couldn't let her off. She'll not run on Sunday, that entry was in case the ground went against her. It was a big decision to come here, but she had been winning her mares' races. We thought we would have a crack at it. She got passed and she battled back. She's tough. The long-term plan is the mares' hurdle. She'll probably have one more run before then and it could be at Christmas in Leopardstown for the mares' race.
Russell comes in for winning spare on Never
It's always nice to get one at a Festival like this. With a good run we thought he might be placed. I thought all chance had gone when he crashed into a horse. He is best fresh and loves a bit of good ground. It's unfortunate for poor Phillip Enright who got a horrible fall. I made the phonecall (to book Davy Russell) and it worked out well.
Apache Stronghold impresses over fences
I couldn't be happier, he jumped like a buck. He will improve for that, but he was fit enough for the race. Paul thinks he'll be better with a good gallop. He hasn't schooled on grass, he schooled on all-weather so you never know. He does like getting goodish ground, but he should go on anything. The Drinmore has to be the race but I also have Very Wood, but he may want further. We'll have to see about whether we can get a race into him (Apache Stronghold) before the Drinmore.
Gamble landed as Solution makes all
Well he had almost the bottom weight and has been very consistent, placed nearly every time over fences I think. He won his point-to-points and his hurdle.
Mullins doubles up with Valerian Bridge
He has improved and improved all season. He has improved more than we thought he would. I'm not sure if he'll go for a fourth bumper. I'm not sure whether he'll handle real winter ground. We'll see whether he goes novice hurdling or whether we keep his novice status for next year.
