Gigginstown wins Limerick's unplaced horses maiden
he was behind the bridle the whole way around and you wouldn't know what you had under you because he'd never show you anything. As soon as he turned in he came alive and I was fairly confident but didn't think it would be so close. That is a big improvement for him looking at his previous runs and you'd have to be delighted with that.
Patient Brouder wins on Poseidon
they went a bit hard up front - flat out and they were taking each other on as well. Kevin came back in and said they were flat-out and said he wasn't able to go much faster. He jumps really well and he'll go handicapping now. His form was solid and we could now look for a good handicap hurdle and hope to run him at below 11 stone.
Prosecution a first over jumps for Murtagh
It is my first winner over jumps and it's great. Paul McKeon owns him and we bought him for the flat but he has been frustrating. He is a horse with plenty of ability, it has taken him a while to jump but I thought recently he had been a bit slicker over them and he handles soft ground so looks an ideal type for hurdles. Beggars can't be choosers and I'm open for all business now and I run Baba Boom, for J.P. McManus, over hurdles tomorrow and they are the only two jumpers we have. There are plenty of hurdles on the Curragh and the last few weeks the lads have been doing plenty of schooling with him and we were happy with him. He is learning as he goes along and Liam (McKenna, jockey), whom I've just met, said he jumped well and quickened up well. I'm absolutely thrilled!
Father Ailbe in dominant form at Limerick
It was well due. We weren't sure about that ground and it was a good enough performance. His owner/breeder John Browne is a brother of Mickey (trainer) and Willie (sales consigner) and it is great to win a race for him. He won on the all-weather for John Butler in England in the past and he could come back here for another hurdle at Christmas time.
Plenty of bets brought up on Young Dev
He was a course and distance winner and had been working nicely lately. It wasn't the strongest race and I told Liam (Mulryan) he'd go close, so I hope he had a few quid on. He'll come back here for a handicap chase at Christmas even though he isn't as good over a fence. Damien (Skehan) is assistant trainer to me now; he actually came to me in July and the first week he broke his foot so he missed most of the autumn. He is a massive addition and is a very good judge and he along with Jack (Hogan) will ride in the amateur races for me.
Step up in trip sees Moyode Lady off the mark
It was a low-grade race and she had a good run at Newcastle the last day. I was hoping it wouldn't be too soon for her but it looks like she stays and we'll try and find something similar for her next. It is easier to win races in Britain; she was second in a maiden hurdle in Newcastle when she wouldn't get into the first 15 in a maiden hurdle here. It was even proven today as she had finished second in that maiden hurdle but only just won from 83 today. It was great to win with her and I have 10 or 12 for the winter.
